The MUSIC VIDEO VAULT TAKEOVER is a new exclusive FRINGE MUSIC FIX feature in which we invite our favourite artists, directors, producers, writers, bloggers, and music video enthusiasts to present five or more music videos that have most inspired or entertained them.

For this takeover we have invited American alt-pop artist Kayls to dig through the vault to unveil five of her favourite music videos.

Kayls is an L.A. based singer/songwriter set on creating raw, authentic, personal pop music inspired by strong women like Stevie Nicks, Madonna, Debbie Harry and sharing more recent stylistic similarities to new artists the likes of Sia, Halsey, and Lana Del Rey. She recently released a single called ‘Summer’, which is from her forthcoming debut EP, Modern Savages (due in January). The album was produced by dark electro pop act, BRÅVES. Kayls will release a second single from the EP on December 1st.

Kanye is a risk-taker with his art and I admire someone who is vulnerable. There has been this new wave of artistic driven videos that are more of short films, and this one in particular really made me feel and see different sides of Kanye West that you may not get from just listening to some of his music.

Lana knows how to take something dark and make it beautiful.. The story in this video is so powerful. Again, It just made me feel something that your typical run-of-the-mill music video doesn’t usually do.

One of my favorite songs of all time, Amy is one of a kind. In this video, you can just feel her soul. It’s so simple but her attitude is so on point. She’s such a legend.

Besides the fact that I think Sia is a pure genius, Maddie Ziegler is such a beautiful expressionist. Art in the form of movement is very inspiring to me.. this collaboration was incredible in my opinion.

I looked up to Alanis growing up, I shared a similar philosophy on life. I think I liked this video because I lived in a small town, it was interesting to see people from all walks of life.
